Bangladesh sees great opportunities for exporting apparels to Japan. Bangladesh is the third largest garment exporter to Japan. Knitwear is currently Bangladesh’s number one export item to Japan. Overall, Bangladesh 5.9 per cent share of Japan’s apparel imports. Until August, the growth in Bangladesh’s apparel export to Japan was over 128 per cent – an all-time high.
Japan is one of the most promising emerging apparel markets for Bangladesh. Last fiscal, Bangladesh’s apparel exports to Japan grew 13.7 per cent. The most upbeat prospect is Japan offers a big break to apparel manufacturers with its demand for high-end apparel items.
Bangladesh pins high hopes on Japan as has good market demand and can afford high-quality apparels. Bangladeshi apparel manufacturers are taking part in Fashion World Tokyo, October 22 to 24, in the hope gaining penetration into the country’s high-end garment market. Eight apparel and leather enterprises from Bangladesh are showcasing their modern and new design products at the fair.
After the opening ceremony, a seminar was held highlighting the prospects of Bangladesh’s apparel industry. Participants highlighted Bangladesh’s apparel business prospects and elaborated on the favorable investment climate in the country.
