Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics has unveiled a renewed brand identity and positioning for its upcoming Spring Edition, officially adopting the slogan ‘Shape the Movement’ as it prepares to welcome the global textile value chain from 10 to 12 March 2027.

The refreshed slogan marks a strategic pivot to highlight the flagship fair’s role not just as a trading venue, but as a primary driver of high-growth industry movements, specifically performance textiles and sustainable innovation. The upcoming edition will also feature several debut show floor concepts aimed at addressing tightening international regulations and evolving consumer demands.

Strategic Identity Shift: ‘Shape the Movement’

The updated slogan reflects the trade fair's influence in determining how global consumers dress and how manufacturers execute those shifts.

"Shaping the industry’s movement is exactly what this fair does, at every edition," said Wilmet Shea, General Manager of Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd. "The new slogan is a nod to Intertextile Apparel’s unmatched influence in determining what vast numbers of global consumers want to wear, how they want to wear it, and how industry players can make that happen. This is the latest in our efforts to update the fair’s branding, to reflect its evolution as a platform that facilitates the development of not only trade, but also high-growth trends and movements like performance-based, sustainable innovation."

Alongside the core themes of Fashion Forward and Textile Future, the 2027 edition is placing disproportionate weight on Performance Textiles and Sustainability, two converging categories seeing rapid growth worldwide.

Spring Debuts: New performance categories and pet apparel

Among the chief practical updates for the Spring 2027 edition is the expansion and evolution of dedicated zones situated in Hall 5.1. The CUBE, an expansive display area within the Functional Lab, will unveil four targeted categories for the first time at a Spring Edition: Thermal Regulation, Moisture Management, Comfort + Sustainability, and Protection. Both the Functional Lab and Econogy Hub are being positioned for expanded square footage to leverage skyrocketing consumer demand for sustainable, unrestrictive movement in the sports and outdoor segments. In the same hall, the event will see the return of the Pet Boutique, a specialised showcase displaying functional and sustainable fabrics, garments, and accessories created to serve China’s surging pet apparel sector.

Beyond product displays, the event will feature the Intertextile Directions Trend Forum for Spring/Summer 2028, coupled with an extensive fringe programme of panel sessions and seminars spanning design directions, market strategies, technology applications, and sustainability challenges.

Regulatory pressures fast-track circular sourcing

The renewed emphasis on certified functionality comes as circularity shifts from an optional marketing differentiator to a binding legal requirement in major consumer markets. European Union policies, such as the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR), are establishing mandatory performance and circularity standards, prompting textile suppliers across Asia to accelerate investments in traceability, compliance testing, and bio-based alternatives to protect their export business. At the fair’s previous run, which drew over 3,000 exhibitors from 25 countries and regions and more than 96,000 visitors from 119 markets; exhibitors reported surging interest in traceable supply chains, bio-based synthetics, and recycled performance materials.
